Lee Douglas "L.D." Ragland, 83, a resident of Headland passed away Monday, August 24, 2015 at his home. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 29, 2015 at the Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Rick Wright officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends following the services in the Sunset Reception Center. Mr. Ragland was born May 30, 1932 in Chattooga County, Georgia and lived there the early part of his life. He joined the U.S. Air Force and served for 21 years until his retirement as a Senior Master Sergeant in 1971. Following his military career he served as the Chattooga County, GA Sheriff prior to moving to Tallahassee, FL in 1981. He worked with Dixie Oil Company for 17 years then moved to Headland in 2003 and worked with the Southeast Alabama Diversion center until 2011. Mr. Ragland was a member of Pleasant Plains Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife Carolyn J. Ragland. Survivors include his daughters, Kimberly Ross and her husband Jeff and Lee Ann Mims; grandchildren, Kimber Fant, JoAnn Mayhall, Nichole Sinas, and Lee Ross; great-grandchildren, Robert Fant, Evan Fant, Jocelyn Mayhall, and Clara Sinas; brothers, Wilburn Ragland, Clyde Ragland, and Harold Ragland; a sister, Betty Rackley; several nieces and nephews.
