Services were 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 21, at the Trostel-Chapman Funeral Home, New Carlisle, Ohio, with Pastor John Hayman officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Community Hospital, 530 S. Burnett Road, Springfield, OH 45505 or any local veterans' association.
He was born May 29, 1946, in Lake Odessa, Mich., the son of William & Kathryn (Strunk) Lay. He was a U.S. Army veteran of Vietnam, where he was a crew chief on a helicopter gunship. He was a supervisor with ITW, formerly known as Hobart in Troy, Ohio. Paul loved playing the guitar, country music and singing.
He was preceded in death by his father, and two brothers, William "Larry" and Jerry Lay.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Marty Lay; five children, Kathryn Lay of Montgomery, Jamie (& Beth) Brady of Walterboro, S.C., Lisa (& Tim) Draughon Dothan, Lori (& Gilbert) Hughes of Pansey and Patty Miller of Montgomery; three grandchildren; his mother, Kathryn (& Andy Marshall); two brothers, Bob (& Sharon) Lay of West Palm, Fla., and Darrell Lay of Springfield, Ohio; a sister, Rita (& Sanford) Eisman of Springfield; special friends, Ida Mae Kinnel, Jerry & Maria Moore, and Pam Lay; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
