Ted Alexander Gamble Ted Alexander Gamble, a resident of Dothan, died Sunday, December 15, 2013, at his home. He was 84. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, December 18, 2013, in the Calvary Baptist Church with Pastor Paul Thompson and Reverend Woodrow Farrington officiating. Entombment will follow in Gardens of Memory, between Dothan and Headland. The family will receive friends from 12:00 Noon until 1:00 P.M. Wednesday in the church sanctuary. Holman-Headland Mortuary is in charge of funeral arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Calvary Baptist Church, 901 Montezuma Avenue, Dothan, AL 36303 or to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 11454, Alexandria, VA 22312. Mr. Gamble was born and reared in the Bethlehem community, near Headland. He was a 1947 graduate of Headland High School and received a degree in Agricultural Education from Alabama Polytechnic Institute (Auburn University) in 1950. Mr. Gamble served his country in the U. S. Army during the Korean War. After a career with the Social Security Administration, he was a real estate broker and appraiser as the owner and operator of Gamble Realty in Dothan. Mr. Gamble was an active member of the Calvary Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. He was a life member of the Auburn Alumni Association and was also a member of the Dothan Kiwanis Club. Mr. Gamble was preceded in death by his father, Horace Lawson (Jack) Gamble, his mother, Dutchie Yance Gamble Jones, his step-father, Robert W. Jones, and a sister, Jacqueline Gamble. Surviving relatives include his wife, Mary M. Gamble, Dothan; a son, Richard Gamble, Hoover, AL; two daughters, Sharon Roberts (Mark), Madison, AL; and Laura Gamble, Ft. Walton Beach, FL; two grandchildren, Jennifer and Kristin Roberts; his faithful feline companion, "Squeaky."
