Jeffrey K. Potter?
March 12, 1959 - July 19, 2024
Jeffrey K. Potter, 65, known for his quick wit, lightheartedness, and loyalty, passed away peacefully at his home in Seven Valleys, Pa, on July 19, 2024. Jeff will forever be missed by all who knew him.
Born on March 12, 1959, in Baltimore to Rayford and Geraldine Potter, Jeff was the eldest of two children. His younger brother, Steve, preceded him in death.
Jeff loved the USA. He attended Patapsco High School then entered the service. In the Army, he served as a Patriot missile radar technician. After his military service, he worked as an electrical engineer for IBM in the defense sector and later for Xerox just before retiring.
When he wasn't learning, working, or providing, he was a creator. His creativity sometimes caused a ruckus- like when he set his parents' garage on fire while testing a homemade flamethrower made from a fire extinguisher.
His love for music was evident in every aspect of his life, from playing the keyboard in a band to blasting music for all to hear, often to the dismay of his neighbors. He also shared his love for music with his grandchildren, buying every known instrument from guitar to xylophone he could find on eBay.
Jeff married the love of his life, Linda "Lin" Potter, a woman who endeavored to tame his rowdy ways. Together, they had two sons, Jeffrey and Michael, both of whom he adored with his whole soul. One of Jeff's greatest joys was being a proud Pop Pop to his grandchildren: Jeffrey Jr., Logan, and Gabrielle. His happiest moments were spent watching his "grand babies" try and learn new things, and his biggest smiles were captured in candid shots of them unwrapping presents on birthdays and at Christmas.
Known for his engaging conversations and keen awareness of the world around him, Jeff had an uncanny ability to make everyone feel seen and heard. There will be one less vote for Trump this year.
He was a dedicated fan of the Orioles and Ravens- faithfully watching games and proudly wearing even the most tackiest sports apparel to show his support.
His love for Halloween décor was so profound that he kept many decorations up year-round in his "man cave." A favorite decoration was one he loved to taunt his oldest son with - the Bride of Chucky.
Honoring his wishes, Jeff's body was donated to medical science. A celebration of "the man, the myth, and the legend" will be held to honor his life. He would want us to remember, "Life goes on." There will be loud music, Bud Light, fireworks, and perhaps even a few skeletons will make an appearance from his beloved Halloween collection. Please contact the family for further details.
Jeff will be remembered for his spirited personality, his deep love for his family, and his unforgettable presence. He leaves behind a legacy of laughter, love, and countless cherished memories.
