David Carroll Obituary

Barrington, RI|David Carroll Sr., 78, formerly of Barrington, RI, passed away peacefully on January 1, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Jo-Ann (Andreozzi) Carroll.

Born in Pawtucket, a son of the late James and Doris (Shorten) Carroll, he lived in Barrington for 54 years. He was the brother of the late James Carroll Jr..

Dave was part of Company A 504th Aviation Battalion 4th Division of the US Army, based in Ansbach, Germany, during the Vietnam War. Upon his return from the service, he married his junior high school sweetheart, Jo-Ann, and remained married for 57 years. After retirement, they moved to Englewood, Florida, where he met new friends and enjoyed fishing, golfing, and the beautiful beaches. Dave always maintained his love for Rhode Island and enjoyed returning to spend time with family and friends. He loved the Boston Bruins, Boston Red Sox, and New England Patriots. He and Jo-Ann enjoyed many Boston Red Sox spring training games in Florida.

Dave graduated from Johnson & Wales University and was a member of the Barrington Fire Department for 27 years before retiring in 1995. He was a devoted father to his five children: Robin Carroll, Terri Turley (Patrick), David Carroll Jr., Diane Graovac (Kevin), and Scott Carroll (Katey). Dave adored and loved his ten grandchildren: Connor and Tanner Paul, Sean, Heather, Aidan and Bryce Turley, Jack and Lucie Graovac, and Brody and Brock Carroll. He also leaves behind an uncle (Leo Carroll), many nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers-in-law, and sisters-in-law.

So sorry to just hear this. Mr Carroll had always been a hockey advocate. He and my dad would stand on the glass talking during the games we had as kids (I skated with older son Dave when we were young). He is someone I respected and considered a true good person.

He will be missed but memories will last!

I'm so sorry to see this I haven't seen any of you in a very long time, but I do have so many great memories with Dave and Joann. Tea nights at Nana and papa's were the best. My heart goes out to your entire family. Also, Harley Colwells daughter Christeen also gives her condolences as well as Harley Colwells grandson Harley, which is my boyfriend. May the lord be with you and your family through this difficult time.

So sorry for your loss, he was a great man. Took me to my very first baseball game (Pawsox) and explained the game to me, i never forgot it.
