Karl Weiffenbach Obituary
Karl F (Gus) Weiffenbach was born on June 28, 1932 to his parents Edith and Ray Weiffenbach. He passed peacefully in his home in Portsmouth RI. He has reunited with his wife and best friend of 57 years Sally Ann Weiffenbach Who passed in 2014.
He lived an exceptional life! Chicago shenanigans in his youth, a veteran Marine of the Korean War, a graduate of Loyola Academy and the Colorado School of Mines where he was a beloved member of Beta Theta Pi fraternity.
He worked on the propulsion team for the Apollo and Saturn rocket systems at the Marshall Flight Center in Alabama. He was a brilliant mathematician and worked on projects across the country for military subcontracts.
He was a caring husband, father, and teacher to his four children. Steven William, Hans, and Jennifer. As well as his daughter-in -laws Grace, Beky and Patricia.
He adored everything life brought. Sports like squash, judo, target shooting , tennis marathons, skiing, football, gymnastics, and downhill racing.
His true loves were literature, poker, chocolate in any form, sharing moments of laughter and love with all those he cared for. He loved dad jokes, bad B movies, horror movies, really burned hotdogs, animals (especially dogs and birds), and beauty, especially that of nature.
He leaves a cadre of grandchildren. Cassian Weiffenbach, Kristina and Mathew Moss, Katrina and John Ferry. Alyna and John, Curtis and Cortney. His grandchildren Fin, Raidyn , Freya , Claudia,Isaac, Joel, Naomi, Andrew and Abigail Moss, Ella, Zoey, and Alija.
His family of choice were so dear to him. His grandchildren from New Haven CT Bria, Larry, Ronnie, Kajuan, mini Rob, Duke, Zay, Whitney, Christina, Mellissa , Aaron, Sincere, Tata, Tye and Keshawn. All who shared a deep love and respect as well as a lot of fun between them.
His Portsmouth RI family of choice grandchildren Ava, Ben, Abby, Maddy, and Gracie. All who taught him to love all things fun, silly, covered in glitter and warmth.
His deep sense of humor, earnest quest for knowledge, kindness, as well as his nurturing and accepting presence spoke of a man who loved, lost, survived, and thrived. He always wanted to help others do the same.
Services/Gathering to celebrate his life:
St Paul's church at 2679 East Main rd Portsmouth RI will be held at 2pm on June 28th .
Following will be a celebration of his life and sharing memories of the man we all loved and respected at 3:30 food will be provided, especially chocolates. Tremblays grill 514 Park ave Portsmouth RI
