Richard Pimental Obituary

Bristol|Richard Alan Pimental, 69, of Hilltop Street, Bristol passed away at home on Friday, September 13, 2024. A son of the late John and Eleanor (Cook) Pimental and the loving husband of Cheryl (Sousa) Pimental, Richard lived in Bristol his whole life, and loved his hometown.

Richard was a 1973 graduate of Bristol High School. He worked at Saint Gobain in Bristol for 25 years until his retirement in 2022. Prior, he was the caretaker of the South Burial Ground in Warren for many years. He previously worked at Kaiser Aluminum and Lloyd's Manufacturing.

Richard enjoyed being outdoors all of his life. He loved hunting, fishing, swimming and working in the yard. He enjoyed his time by the pool or out on the water in his boat, loved ice cream, and was an avid fan of war movies. Richard was a family man. He was a devoted and caring husband and father, always there with advice or to fix anything when needed. He loved to cook for his family, especially during the holidays.

Above all of this though, Richard was a doting and proud grandfather. He was always at attendance for every sport, performance or ceremony his grandchildren participated in. He loved spending as much time as possible with his grandchildren, and especially loved spending summers with them playing card games, watching them ride their bikes, or swimming in the pool. His grandchildren will always remember him for his kind heart, and his amazing pancakes.

In addition to his loving wife of 48 years, Cheryl, Richard is survived by his two adoring children, Richard, Jr. and his wife Rebecca of Cranston, and Lisa Cabral and her husband Dennis of Bristol; his brother, Donald Pimental of Bristol; his grandchildren, Ethan and Mia Pimental of Cranston, and Logan and Jacoby Cabral of Bristol. He was the brother-in-law to Robert Sousa of Bristol, William Sousa and his wife Dawn of AZ, Bruce Sousa and his wife Laura of Bristol and Dawn Riall. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews that he loved very much. He was the brother of the late Jack Pimental; the son-in-law of the late Pearl (Palumbo) and Manuel Sousa; and the brother-in-law of the late Michael Sousa and Laureen Sousa.
