Robert Caizzi

Robert "Bob" Caizzi, 89, passed away on April 24, 2024 at his home in Warren in the loving care of his children. He was the devoted husband of the late Sarah (Tattrie) Caizzi for 61 years before her passing in December of 2018.

Born and raised in Bristol he was the son of the late Lena Caizzi Johnson. Bob was a 1953 graduate of Colt Memorial High School serving as class VP and playing on the football, baseball, and basketball teams. In 1992 he was inducted into the Bristol Athletic Hall of Fame.

Bob had many fond memories of playing sports and one of his most cherished was playing on the 1949 Kearny Post No. 6 American Legion Baseball Team that won the Western Sectional Championship in Omaha, NE. He enjoyed spending time on the Town Common and at the YMCA near his home on State Street where he participated in many recreational activities and forged many lifelong friendships.

After team sports Bob logged hundreds of miles running and walking through Colt State Park. Bob served in the Army National Guard, Battery C, Battalion 243d Artillery, RI. He worked for many years at Lloyd Manufacturing in Warren and Raytheon Corporation in Portsmouth RI. Post retirement Bob worked part time at St. Elizabeth Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Bristol, as a Driver/Patient Transporter and enjoyed being of assistance to the residents as well as the staff. Bob was a pleasant and wise gentleman who loved to read and who enjoyed his many conversations with family, friends, neighbors and his caregiving team. A Celebration of Life will take place on May 4th at Saint Mary's Church, State Street, Bristol.

Bob is survived by his children: Robert Caizzi (Judy), Jane Viscolosi (Larry), Stephen Caizzi, Sarah Klein (Douglas); his grandchildren: Hannah Louise and Sarah Jane Klein, and Stephen Michael Caizzi; and many extended family and friends.

A Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 4, 2024, at St. Mary's Church, 330 Wood Street, Bristol starting at 9:00 AM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, May 4, 2024, at 10:00 AM at St. Mary's Church, 330 Wood Street, Bristol. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Bob's memory can be made to St. Mary's Church, Bristol or Visiting Nurse Home & Hospice, Middletown, RI.
