Stephen Davis Obituary
Stephen attended Overbrook High School in Philadelphia and was awarded a full scholarship to the University of Pennsylvania at graduation. After completing his undergraduate degree at Penn in 1946 (Phi Beta Kappa), Stephen obtained graduate degrees at both the Columbia School of Journalism (1947) and Columbia Law School (1952). Stephen practiced corporate law at Gulf & Western Industries as Assistant General Counsel and subsequently as General Counsel IBJ Schroder Bank and Trust Company. In retirement, Stephen was an adjunct professor of law at Roger Williams University from 1995-2005.
Stephen is survived by his wife of 68 years, Joyce Kidder Davis, his brother Christopher (Kit) Davis of Altadena CA, 3 children: Owen K Davis, Carolyn W Erskine (husband Matthew F Erskine) and Charles B Davis, 7 grandchildren: Zoe CG Davis, Alida A Davis, Nathaniel AK Erskine, Adele W Hanks, Amelia F Erskine, Christopher E Davis and Aaron R Davis, and 2 great-grandchildren: Riley M Hanks and Kathryn H Erskine.
Donations in Stephen's honor would be well-received by the Tiverton Public Library.
Private funeral arrangements were entrusted to Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth Street, New Bedford MA.

I worked for Steve many years ago and still marvel at his brilliance, knowledge of the law, common sense, and gentle manner. He could make his point, which more often than not was correct, without making the other person feel any the lesser. He simply was the best boss I ever had and one of the finest people I have ever known.
