Alan Spatcher Obituary

God blessed us when Alan was born on July 5, 1950. The son of the late Muriel and Richard (Dick) Spatcher, the brother of Carol and the late Jeannie Spatcher. He was the devoted grandson of the late Al and Celia Mouchou of Alameda and the late Jesse and Rosalina Spatcher of Bloomfield, New Jersey. He held a lifelong love for the outdoors - especially camping, fishing, hiking, swimming, running, gardening, walking miles with Floralei, BBQ-ing and always enjoyed an ice-cold beer ("BUD please"). A talented freshwater fisherman, he looked forward to catching rainbow trout from the Stanislaus River (or any river for that matter), and treasured time spent with his Mouchou cousins at their Dorrington cabin. Vacationing on Maui was also his happy place. He loved his cars, especially his '69 912 Porsche, his sporty Audi A4, his 4 Runner and his newest joy, a GMC Acadia. He was meticulous and took great pride in what he drove. He had a passion for all the sports - baseball, football, basketball, PGA golf, NASCAR. Alan valued his time spent with all his family (the Spatchers, Mouchous, Zellers, Hanssons, Eberlys and the Jones). He loved his children, especially his grandchildren. He was so happy to welcome his two newest granddaughters in March of this year.Alan was the embodiment of devotion, honesty, integrity, trust, optimism, humor and hard work. He dedicated 43 years as a land agent for PG&E, retiring in 2018.He is survived by his wife, Floralei, the love of his life; his sons Matt Spatcher (Nikki), Justin Laurence (Jennifer); his daughters Amy Power (Lane), Melelani Bornheimer (Sean); six beautiful grandchildren; his loving sister, Carol Welch (Bob); and lovely niece, Emily Thornock (Rob), his Aunt Shirley Mouchou, and many cousins, nephews, and nieces that he dearly loved. His earthly journey ended far too soon for those of us who dearly loved him. He was guided to his eternal heavenly home on April 11, 2023, at the age of 72. He fought a good fight against prostate cancer. He is a third generation Elk member, and longtime Alameda resident, graduating from Alameda High class of '68. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a memorial gift to Alameda Elks Lodge in Alan's name. A Celebration of Life honoring Alan will be held on Sunday, June 4, 2023, from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the Alameda Elks Lodge, 2255 Santa Clara Avenue, Alameda, CA 94501.For information call, Harry Greer, Funeral Director (FDR-745).
