Alex Mahl Obituary

Alex Mahl Resident of Lafayette, Ca Alex Mahl, the loving son of Jerry Mahl and Judie Dwyer-Mahl and the beloved younger brother of Lily Mahl, passed away unexpectedly at home on April 17, 2011. Alex was born on February 29, 1988 and attended Lafayette Elementary School, Stanley Intermediate and Acalanes High School, where he graduated in 2006. He attended DVC after graduation and was planning on enlisting in the U.S.M.C.. Alex enjoyed sports throughout his life, including playing football, basketball and baseball into his high school years. He was an avid fan of college and professional sports and loved to watch games with his Dad, and especially if the Ohio State Buckeyes or the Cleveland Indians were in the mix. Alex was a tall young man with a big hug and an infectious grin, who towered over his parents, sister and most of his friends, and exuded an "old soul" warmth, a quiet demeanor, and a gentle kindness toward all he encountered. He began his days with his music , chocolate milk and the New York Times and ended it with ESPN. He will be deeply missed by his parents and his sister, his grandparents Earl Mahl, Tom and Elsie Dwyer, many uncles, aunts and cousins, and his many close friends since childhood. A celebration of Alex's life will be held at the Lafayette-Orinda Presbyterian Church on Saturday, April 30th at 11 am. A reception will follow at the church. In honor of Alex's life, in lieu of flowers, the family requests gifts of memorial be made to The Alex Mahl Family Fund, U.S. Bank, Acct #153463408333 3498 Mt. Diablo Boulevard, Lafayette, Ca 94549. The family also wishes to express their deepest gratitude to the many friends and family who have been of such great help during this time of tremendous sadness. Alex passed away at home in Lafayette where he was raised, with his mother and father nearby. He will be missed immensely.

I can't imagine what you are going through. I wish I could say something that would comfort you in a time like this. I have known you both for almost 40 years and never thought I would hear such a terrible thing happening to you. I have you in my prayers and thoughts. God give you strength.

I just loved Alex. Thought he was adorable.
Last time I saw him, he and Gavin B. came by to use my golf cart to play Rossmoor.
With sympathy for all who loved him.
