Dr. Aloke Chatterjee Resident of Clayton Dr. Aloke Chatterjee passed away peacefully at his home in Clayton, California surrounded by loved ones on Saturday, June 20, 2009. Aloke was born November 29, 1940 in Kolkata, India, one of three children of Tarak and Himani Chatterjee. He came to the United States in 1966 and received a PhD in Medical Physics from Notre Dame University in 1970. He spent 39 years in Medical Research at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory and was a 25 year resident of Clayton. Aloke was very active in the Bay Area Bengali Community. His greatest passion was his family, especially his grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by his loving wife of 39 years, Cathy Chatterjee of Clayton; beloved daughter Dalia Durant (Tim) of San Ramon; beloved son Niloy Chatterjee (Alicia) of Dublin, CA; loving brother Pradip Chatterjee (Rita) of New Delhi, India; and by three cherished grandchildren, Tyler and Alexandra Durant of San Ramon and Preston Chatterjee of Dublin. He was preceded in death by a sister Sathi Banerjee. Private cremation is planned. A Memorial Celebration of his life will be held at a later date. This is Tanbir. I met Alokeda & Cathy in Brisbane at the 12th International Congress of Radiation Research back in 2003. Both of them were friendly and kind. Over the course of time, I lost touch and recently I have been thinking about getting back in touch. When finally I found any news of Alokeda it was about his passing away.

My prayers are for Alokeda, may his soul be in peace and rest in heaven.
