Bartley Angelo Orsi, Jr.
February 9, 1934 - March 1, 2022
Resident of Orinda
Bartley "Bart" Orsi, a long time resident of Oakland and Orinda, passed away on March 1, 2022 surrounded by family.
He was born on February 9, 1934 in Oakland to Bartolomeo and Lucy Orsi. Bart graduated from Oakland Technical High School in 1953 and afterwards served in the Air Force as a mechanic on B29s during the Korean War. After returning home he became a member of the Oakland Scavenger Company, where he worked until his retirement.
Bart was an avid duck hunter, enjoyed working outside in his garden, and loved cooking for his family and many friends. Graeagle was his home away from home where unforgettable memories were made. Another passion of his was working and restoring antique cars.
Bart is survived by his wife Doris, his children Bartley Orsi, III (Margie), Terri Orsi, and their mother Shirley Orsi Singer. He was a very proud and loving Nonno to his five grandsons, Ryan Collins (Gina), Matthew Collins (Mia), Joseph Orsi (Marlo), Tony Orsi (Marissa), and Christopher Orsi. He was a great-grandfather to Sofia Collins. He also leaves behind his three nieces Kathy Fehely (Mike), Nancy Teixeira (Glenn) and Chris Rossi. He was predeceased by his parents, sister and brother-in-law Barbara and Ron Poggi.
A memorial mass will be held on Friday, March 11, 2022 at 10:30am at the Church of Santa Maria, 40 Santa Maria Way, Orinda. In lieu of flowers, please donate to UCSF Foundation/Cancer Research, PO Box 45339, San Francisco, CA 94145-0339 or www.makeagift.ucsf.edu.

Sorry to hear of Bart's passing. Bart was my first partner in the garbage company in the Montclair hills starting in 1967. My condolences to his family. I donated to the UCSF Cancer Foundation in his name. May he rest in peace.
