Beverly Halik Walker

Beverly Halik Walker Loving mother, wife, daughter, sister, friend, and teacher, passed away Friday, February 17, 2006 in the company of her family, after a courageous five-year fight with breast cancer. Survived by her loving husband, Eric Walker of El Cerrito; sons, Matthew Walker of El Cerrito, and Brian Walker of Pleasant Hill; parents, Frederick and Mildred Halik of Rochester, NY; sister, Sherrie Bernat of Buffalo, NY; brother, Jeffrey Halik, of Fairport, NY; nieces, Sara, Rebecca, and Wendy; and nephew, Scott. Beverly grew up in Rochester, NY. She met her future husband, Eric, while at the State University of New York at Potsdam, and together they moved to the San Francisco Bay Area in 1977. She was a devoted kindergarten and 2nd grade teacher for 18 years at Woodside Elementary School in Concord. Beverly always found the best in everyone. In every conversation with her, she was excited, enthusiastic, and interested to hear about what you were doing. Beverly had the gift of making everyone feel special. She loved fine food, was a gourmet cook, a connoisseur of fine wines, and delighted in discovering wonderful restaurants with her friends. She was also an accomplished equestrian, and loved horses. But nothing was more important to Beverly than her family. Friends and acquaintances are cordially invited to attend memorial services on Tuesday, February 21 at 4:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Sunset View Mortuary, top of Fairmount Avenue, El Cerrito.
