Charles Adams Obituary

Charles Fred Adams, Jr.
June 26, 1951 - September 1, 2018
Resident of Antioch
Charles "Chuck" Fred Adams, Jr. passed away on September 1, 2018. A resident of Antioch and Pittsburg his entire life, and an educator for over 30 years, he leaves a tremendous impact on the community and will be remembered as a local institution.
Chuck was born in Pittsburg, CA and graduated from Pittsburg High School in 1969. He earned an undergraduate degree and a teaching credential from California State University, Chico, where he became an initiated member of Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity. He taught history, government and economics at Antioch High School from 1976 to 2008, and spent the summers in Alaska as a commercial salmon fisherman. Chuck enjoyed hunting and sport fishing, and shared these favorite pastimes with his many friends and fellow outdoorsmen. He was above all a dedicated son, brother, husband, father and grandfather, and was at his happiest surrounded by family. He lived life to its fullest, had a joke for every occasion, and was a friend to all.
Chuck is survived by his wife, Frances; his sons Charles (Thao) of San Jose, Vincent (Juliette) of Danville; and his grandchildren Violet and Madeline. He is also survived by his mother Lila of Anchorage, AK; and his brothers Douglas (Sandy) of Pittsburg, and Kevin (Verna) of Anchorage, AK, as well as many other nieces, nephews and extended family. He was preceded in death by his father Charles and sister Linda.
Family and friends are invited to the Memorial Funeral Liturgy on Wednesday, September 12, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Cross Cemetery, 2200 E. 18th Street in Antioch.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Michael Becker Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 8636, Pittsburg, CA 94565.

Chuck was a dear friend and colleague at AHS for many years. He and I would often exchange the latest jokes during passing periods. He and I were on the social committee and he was an outstanding bartender, serving up drinks at the faculty parties. Because Chuck was so interested in nature and the outdoors, he would often wander down to my classroom and do the Nature Mystery Quiz that I created. He always did very well! Chuck was also a member of a Friday breakfast club that met at Sylvia's and included about five of us. Both our daughter and son had Chuck for a teacher and thought very highly of him. Thank you for letting me share some of my fondest recollections of Chuck. I miss him very much. With deepest sympathy to all of you.
