Charles Grant Obituary

CHARLES I. GRANT July 21, 1943 - February 21, 2005 Charles died the evening of February 21, 2005, after a two-year battle with cancer. He was born in San Francisco and grew up in Oakland. He graduated from St. Mary's High School in Berkeley, joined the United States Air Force and spent 3 years in Germany. After leaving the service, Charles returned to California. He lived and worked in Eureka before settling back in the Bay Area to be near his family. Charles is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and David Gray; his grandchildren, Julia and Jack; his brothers, sisters and their spouses, Barry and Wilma Grant, Mary Ellen and David Gilstrap, Rena Grant, Barbara and Marty Ruddy and Stewart Grant; his dear friend, Pamela Eis; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Charles H. and Ellen; his daughter, Vanessa; and his brother, Thomas. Charles was a kind, generous and loving man with a terrific sense of humor. He will be missed by those fortunate enough to have known him. A graveside memorial will be held Friday, March 4, 11:00 a.m., at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Hayward.
