David Arthur Freeman died peacefully surrounded by his children on September 13, 2018 and was buried in a private ceremony attended by his family. Dave was born in Los Angeles, Califoria in 1937 and made a mark on the tennis courts when L.A. was THE tennis capital of the country. He graduated from University High School in 1955 before heading to U.C. Berkeley where he met his wife, Andra Francisco, studied business and continued his father's legacy in Sigma Alpha Mu. Andi and Dave were married in 1959 and, after graduating from Cal, returned to Southern California for some reason, maybe to have their first child, Jacqui. In short order, they returned to NorCal where they had their other three children, Leslie, Debbi and Dale, and lived the remainder of their lives, first in Westlake, then South City and, until his death, in Moraga. Dave's long career as a CPA (including over 25 years at Moss Adams LLP) fit his meticulous ways - something that was on full display through his last two weeks in the hospital. Dave was predeceased by his wife of 42 years, Andi, and is survived by more friends than he realizes and a loving family including his daughters, Jacqui DeHope, Leslie Rowley and Debbi Bock, his son, Dale Freeman, his sons-in-law Dave Rowley and Chris Bock, his daughter-in-law Kerry Freeman, his grandchildren Vanessa DeHope (Brandon Ridgway), Joey Taylor (Kim Tamashiro), Grant Rowley, Baylee Rowley, Jackson Freeman, Robyn Rowley, Leah Freeman, Hunter Bock, Erin Freeman and Alex Freeman and his great-grandchildren Belle Taylor, Bianca DeHope and Liliana Ridgway. Dave's kids are grateful for his dear friend, Carole Taylor. Dave had a lot of pleasures in his very full life - his 49ers as a loyal season ticketholder for decades and the Giants to name two - but nothing gave him greater pleasure than being with his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and his loyal dog, The Chief. We are grateful to our Dad's dear friend, Carole Taylor, for their fifteen years of companionship. Whether he was known as Dad or Poppa or Dave, he was his own man and lived on his terms. We love our Dad more than words can describe.
