David Paul Grant, 53, was taken away from us suddenly to be with the Lord on Saturday September 20, 2014. He was born to Franklin Lee Grant Jr. and Carol Joy Johnson on August 4, 1961 in Walnut Creek, CA. He was a hardworking single father for many years until he married the love of his life, Carolyn Grant, whom he met in 2004 and married in 2005. He touched whomever he met with his love and never ending faith. He was a hard worker who worked for the Hayward Unified School District for 30 years and was the weekend manager at the mobile park where he resided. He served the Lord in many capacities by being an active member at Neighborhood Church in Castro Valley, CA and by ministering to children at Juvenile Hall. He loved riding his motorcycle and working with his hands. He was also a loyal Oakland A's fan, a connoisseur of classic cars and thoroughly enjoyed spending quality time with his wife. He was a devoted son, dedicated father and loving husband who each morning would greet his wife with coffee and kisses.
He is preceded in death by his father Franklin L. Grant, Jr., younger brother Paul Grant and his stepfather Ronald D. Wilson.
He is survived by his loving wife Carolyn Grant, mother Carol Joy Wilson, aunt Judith Powell, sisters Rebecca Debelak and Sarah Gipson, his sons Christopher, Matthew and Nicholas Grant, stepson John Karpe, Jr., stepdaughters Jenna and Cassandra Karpe, brother-in-laws David Debelak and Gerald Perkinson Jr., mother-in-law Marilyn Valintino, sister-in-laws Tanya Valintino and Sandra Perkinson, nieces Leighann, Olivia, Felicia, Brittany, Jessica and Lily; nephews Andrew, Jeffrey and Travis.
Celebration of Life service to be held at Neighborhood Church, 20600 John Drive, Castro Valley, CA. Saturday, September 27, 2014 at 11am followed by a reception.

David's heart was on fire for Jesus! He cme along side my husband and I during a period of darkness and shined God's light. He always had a smile to share and a booming laugh. We had the pleasure of spending a weekend with him and Carolyn river rafting. He referred to Carolyn as "my sweetie". I will miss you my brother until I am called home.

I remember David very well from High School , we were good friends . The last time I saw him was when I was driving by Groove School back in the late 2001 . As soon as I saw his face even though it had been since High School , I remembered him right away , then introduced my self , he remembered and laughed with me a bit . My prayers go out to him and all his family , he will be surely missed but never forgotten , The Stotts Family
