David Guarnaccia Obituary

Resident of Bella Vista, AR
Mr. Guarnaccia died of natural causes on September 5, 2021 in Bella Vista, Arkansas. He was born to David and Shirley Guarnaccia in Brooklyn NY, and grew up on Long Island with his grandparents, Dr. Rudolph and Gretchen Herriman. He attended school at Mt. Hermon School (now Northfield Mt. Hermon) in MA; received a B.S. in Forest Management at the University of Massachusetts 1959, Amherst, MA; a M.S. in Forestry at Montana State University 1962, Missoula, Montana.
His career of many years included employment by the U.S. Forest Service in Washington and Montana; Canyon Logging Co. in Montana; Weyerhaeuser Company (V.P. and G.M. of the Oregon California & Eastern Railway) in Klamath Falls, Oregon. In the Bay Area he worked for Soferval, Inc (a subsidiary of GEC Alstom) as the facilities manager that built the first 150 C cars for Bay Area Rapid Transit out of Union City. He started with Transcisco Industries which operated the Sierra 49er Express train, and then moved into its Leasing Division which was acquired by Trinity Rail Management out of Dallas TX. While in Klamath Falls, Oregon he served as the chairman of the Klamath County Board of Health. He retired to Bella Vista Arkansas, where he collected train memorabilia and set up model trains as a hobby.
Mr. Guarnaccia is survived by his wife Norma Jean MacKenzie Guarnaccia, Bella Vista Arkansas; brother John (Mercedes) Guarnaccia, Waldoboro, Maine; brother Joseph Guarnaccia, Princeton, New Jersey; daughter Jennie Guarnaccia Silver (Matthew) Sacramento, CA; son Paul Guarnaccia (Erin Ernst) South Lake Tahoe, California; grandson Julian David Silver of Sacramento; Raylene Guarnaccia of Bella Vista, Arkansas and former wife Carol Guarnaccia, Pleasanton.
A memorial service will be held at a future date at the Presbyterian Church of Bella Vista, Arkansas.
