It has been a year since Dean’s passing and I still think of him often! He left many great memories in our hearts and I ‘ll remember him for ever! Being a member of the Hayward Fire Department made his relationship with me close, but truly he was a brother to everyone that knew him! Dean You are sincerely missed! Rest easy brother..

Dean: you will definitely be missed! Dean was a Teacher and a mentor for many HFD recruits! He always encouraged me to take classes to improve my knowledge of the Fire Prevention office and he was always there for you when you needed him! The city of Hayward benefited tremendously by his service! My condolences to Jody, Kelly, Steve, and the entire Montevago family! Dean May you RIP!

Dean, when I reminisce about the wonderful times playing in the back yard with our brothers enjoying the game of baserunner or learning to box, and playing at the Laurel School field either pick-up basketball, sandlot baseball or football, as well as during the warm summer evenings playing the game of chase throughout the neighborhood; I thank you for being a part of my childhood.

Dean, you will be missed. I remember being backyard neighbors when we lived on Jones Street in Castro Valley. Good memories. Thank you for being one of our first responders. God Bless You.
