Dee passed away peacefully, at home, after a 10 month battle with cancer. She was 69 years old, much too young.
Born in Marion Ohio, she spent her first 20 years living in the upper Midwest In Ohio, Michigan and Pennsylvania. Dee graduated high school in Pennsylvania, At Butler High School in 1971. After graduation she moved back to Marion to begin living on her own.
In the fall of 1972, at age 19, her stepfather was transferred to California and asked Dee to join them, in the move west. Thankfully she said yes, it was the best thing that ever happened to me. Settling in Walnut Creek, within a month had her own apartment and a job at Valley Disposal, in accounting. In the fall of 1973 we met and began a life together that would last over 48 years. We were married in the summer of 1974.
In the early 1980s with two children in elementary school, Dee tired of being a stay at home mom and took a job with the Mount Diablo School District, working in the mail room and then delivering mail to the various schools within the district. Eventually she got a job working in the libraries as a media assistant. She worked for the school district for nearly 20 years.
Dee was an avid reader, enjoyed gardening, going to the casinos and was a long time member of the bowling community. Whatever the activity was, it was the people she met along the way that she enjoyed the most. She was the epitome of a people person.
Dee is survived by her husband Robert, daughter Kimberly, son Rob, mother Mary, stepfather Bob, sisters Phala and Debbie, stepbrother Rob and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles and countless friends. Dee was preceded in death by her beloved sister Pamela (Mappie). A Celebration of Dee's Life will be held on a date to be determined.
