Florence V. Nelson Jan. 31, 1912 - Nov. 27, 2007 Resident of Walnut Creek Our beloved Mother and Grandmother Florence passed away quietly and peacefully at her daughter's home at the age of 95. She leaves behind special memories to last a lifetime. Born and raised in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She came to the Bay Area in 1942. She resided in Concord and Walnut Creek for 55 years. She worked in the shipyards in Richmond during World War II and after the war she worked for J.C. Penny in Richmond and Concord. She was also a homemaker who loved to garden, cook and sew. Florence was a member of the VFW in Pleasant Hill, Catholic Daughters, a Gold Star Mother, a member of the Walnut Creek & Pleasant Hill Seniors. She enjoyed living in the area very much and treasured her family and friends. She is survived by a daughter Merryann, granddaughter Jeri and husband Brent, two great grandsons Jerod and Jason, a new great-great grandson Shane, sister Virginia, two brother-in-laws Warren and Emery and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her husband Willard, son Billy, granddaughter Susan, two son-in-laws, parents, brother Vernal and sister Leona. Friends & family are invited to a memorial service on Friday, Dec. 7th, 2007 at 1:00 P.M. at Oakmont Memorial Park-Inspiration Chapel 2099 Reliez Valley Road, Lafayette, CA (925) 935-3311. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the Leukemia Society or Cancer Society in her memory.
