Ford Worthing Obituary

Ford Buxton Worthing At home in Walnut Creek, November 25, 2003. A native of Wheeling, West Virginia, Ford was reared in Mt. Gilead, Ohio; graduated from Miami of Ohio and did graduate work at Ohio State. He spent his career in public relations promoting events such as the Pillsbury Bake-Off, the Kaiser Cook-Out, and the Pineapple Cooking Classic. Ford was a member of the Public Relations Society of America. He enjoyed world travel and was an avid reader of world affairs. He is survived by Joanne, his wife; daughters Marcia Worthing (Ron), DeeDee Worthing, Kay Phelan (Jeff); sons John Worthing (Peggy) and Buck Worthing (Elizabeth); and ten grandchildren. A Memorial Mass celebrating Ford's life will be held Wednesday, December 3, 2003 at 10:30 am at St. Isidore's Catholic Church, 440 La Gonda Way, Danville. Private Inurnment at Queen of Heaven Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, remembrances in Ford's name may be sent to Hospice of Contra Costa County, 2501 Harrison Street, Concord, CA 94520 or a charity of your choice. He was my very first "boss" at Young & Rubicam Ad Agency in 1958. He was just beginning to see Joanne Haag then and shortly thereafter moved to California. I was devastated as he was the best employer ever. I am 79 years old now so this shows how much time has gone by.
