Gary Freschi Obituary

Gary R. Freschi
March 3, 1941 - March 10, 2021
Resident of Pinole, CA
It is with great sadness that we mourn the loss of Gary R. Freschi on March 10, 2021, surrounded by his loving family. Gary was born March 3, 1941 to Thomas and Elizabeth (Musso) Freschi.
Gary grew up in San Pablo with his loving parents and older brother Tom, on the same property where his mother was raised. He was blessed to have his grandparents Rocco and Caterina Musso living downstairs to influence his life. Gary graduated from Richmond Union High School in 1959.
Gary developed a love for music at a young age. As was traditional with most Italian families, his mother wanted him to play the accordion. Instead, Gary wanted to play the drums. He became very proficient playing Big Band, Jazz, dance and other genres in Bay Area clubs.
Eventually Gary graduated with a certification as an electrician and began working for the Richmond Unified School District. He retired after 32 years of service, becoming Director of Facilities.
Anyone who knew Gary, knew his character as a perfectionist, an honest and loyal person, as well as a good listener. Gary valued family above all things and was a devoted husband to Marie for 58 years.
Gary is preceded in death by his parents Thomas and Elizabeth Freschi. He is survived by his devoted wife Marie, son Mark, daughter Lori Freschi-Rickey, Son-in-Law Will Rickey, brother Tom Freschi, Sister-in-Law Nancy Freschi, Nieces Deanna Freschi and Paula Bravo (Rafael). He also leaves behind great nephews Austin and Casey Bravo, his uncle John Freschi and numerous cousins.
Recitation of the Rosary is scheduled for Friday, April 9, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 837 Tennent Ave. Pinole. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in San Pablo.
Donations in Gary's honor are welcomed to St. Jude's Children Hospital or the Leukemia Lymphoma Society, or a charity of your choice.

I am so very sorry for your loss. Seeing Gary’s obituary this morning brought a flood of joyful memories. We were neighbors of the Freschi family on Duke Avenue in Richmond in the 50’s and 60’s. Gary was a kind and helpful teenager, always willing to led a helping hand.
My heart goes out to the whole family. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.

I worked with Gary many years ago with the Richmond Unified School District. He was a great guy and I am greatly saddened at his passing. May he rest in peace.
