George Wong Obituary

George Sing Wong
Dec. 12, 1929 - May 12, 2021
Resident of Oakland, CA
George Sing Wong, 91, Oakland, CA, passed peacefully on May 12, 2021. Born and raised in Patterson, CA, George graduated from Patterson High School in 1948. After a brief service in the US Army, George moved to the East Bay, where he had a career in the small business grocery retail industry. In his retirement years, George enjoyed strolling the aisles of discount stores. George is best described as a gentle, decent, unpretentious family loving man. He has been recognized for volunteer excellence with several non profit organizations. Preceded in death by his loving wife Beatrice Jane Lee Wong, he was a loving father to daughters Sandra Wong and Karen Dea, son-in-laws John Dietrich and James Dea, and proud of his grandsons and their families, Chris and Susan DerBing, Clifton Der Bing, Joseph Fruen, Jason and Irene Dea, and Kenrick Dea. His blessings were his great granddaughters Kiera and Jade. A private family Celebration of Life will be held. Donations to honor George can be made to East Bay SPCA Oakland, 8323 Baldwin St., Oakland, CA 94621 or Family Bridges Inc., 168 Eleventh Street, Oakland, CA 94607.

Thank you to George's family for including the East Bay SPCA in his very nice obituary. George and Beatrice were longtime loyal donors for nearly 20 years. We truly appreciate their past support, and of course, any contributions made to honor George's memory. With deepest sympathy and appreciation, the East Bay SPCA.

He was a gentle man with a very warm smile. His smile lit up the room. He was very gracious and loving. He will be greatly missed.
