Girolma Cardinale

1936 - 2022

Girolma "Gerry" Antoinette Cardinale was born to Rose and Peter Cardinale on May 29, 1936. She graduated from Pittsburg High School in 1954. Gerry worked for Rexall Drugs and a Pittsburg attorney as a secretary, before employment at the Contra Costa Sheriff Office in Records/Warrants, and eventually retiring from Personnel at Contra Costa County in 1998. Gerry is preceded in death by her parents Rose and Peter Cardinale, her sister Rose Greenup and brother Thomas Cardinale.Gerry is survived by her children, Vincent Cardinale and Karen Cardinale; grandchildren: Anthony Cardinale (Jazmine) and Gianna Cardinale Murphy (Jonathan); great grandchildren: Julian McPeters, Zylee Cardinale and Enzo Cardinale; niece and nephew: Rose-Inez Sanchez (John) and Peter Cardinale (Sonia); great nephews and great-great nephews.A lifetime resident of Pittsburg; Gerry enjoyed Bocce with her friends as captain of the Bella Donnas, serving in leadership positions with the Sons of Italy Pittsburg chapter, serving on her high school reunion committee, making ceramics with her sister Rose and spending time with her family after retirement.Gerry was well known for being a generous, kind and witty woman. She enjoyed telling stories about her upbringing, passing her Sicilian traditions down generations and sharing her Sicilian recipes like her famous Cucidatti and Ravioli and most importantly spending time with her family and friends. Gerry was one-of-a-kind personality. We will miss her dearly and she lives on through every person who loves her.Memorial service will be held on Friday, January 27, 2023, at 11:00am at Church of the Good Shepherd.
