Howard Moore Obituary

Howard Allen Moore, Jr.
March 19, 1948 - August 25, 2020
Resident of Rancho Cordova, CA
To everything there is a season and a time to every purpose under Heaven...
Entered into rest on Aug. 25 at Kaiser Hospital in Roseville surrounded by family following a seven-month battle with prostate cancer. He was born in San Francisco to Howard Sr and Josephine Moore. Grew up in Richmond, Ca along with his younger brother Michael (Mike.) Graduated from Richmond High then joined the US Navy proudly serving on the USS Kitty Hawk as an Airdale during the Vietnam Conflict. Howard aka Arnold formed lifetime friendships with his motorcycle buddies - the Flying A's. He married Michelle settled in Dixon, CA and added to their family cherished son Joseph and daughter Meghan. Howard was a well-respected diesel mechanic and retired from Ryder Truck Rental in West Sacramento. He was a proud member of the IUOE Local 3 serving as job steward. Howard married for a second time to Donna and became "Pops" to her son Matthew Carroll of Danville, CA. Howard and Donna had the time of their lives traveling across the United States on a motorcycle or in the RV with their cat Missy. He took great pleasure in restoring his 1950 Ford Shoe Box with Joe, reloading bullets, target practice, talking guns and ammo with Mike, riding in the foothills, going to car shows with "Our Gang," RVing, family get togethers and serving good BBQ. Most of all Howard loved his family. He was blessed with three grandchildren Lily, Uriah and Ezra. He enjoyed staying in touch with his cousins Dick (Karen Bourquin of Helena, MT and Jacklyn Brink of Palm Bay, FL and friends Randy (Aleisa) of Laurel MT; Ralph and Gayle Haskell of Burney, CA; Kenny (Carol) Logan of Portola, CA; Cheryl Gilbert of Rancho Cordova, CA and Roy Powell and Judy Stafford of Dixon, CA. Howard is also survived by his brother Mike (Mary) of Pinole, CA, nephews Mike Jr. (Karyn) of Richmond, CA and Dennis (Erica) of Vacaville and their families; sisters-in-law Rebecca Simser (Gilbert Torres) of Lodi, CA and family and Bonnie Thompson (Tony English) of Wilbraham, MA. This good, good man will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts. When Covid permits Howard requested interment at the National Cemetery in Dixon followed by a celebration of his life.
