Inge, age 90 of Alameda, passed away peacefully after a fall. Born Ingeborg Mueller in Filmore, New York to recent German immigrants Anna and Wilhelm, Inge grew up in the country outside Eureka California. She attended Girls High School in San Francisco and graduated in Richmond California. Always artistic, her first job was painting ceramics in Pt. Richmond California. After working as a Rosie at Kaiser Shipyards, she married her loving husband, Ben Stone of Wisconsin at St. Paulus Lutheran Church in the city. Inge worked at home in childcare as well as Bank of America. After raising their three children in Los Angeles, Inge and Ben moved back to the Bay Area, to Concord, from which they were constant travelers throughout their retirement, including many trips to visit family in Germany. Inge's faith was important to her and she was active at First Lutheran Church in Culver City/Palms, as well as Holy Cross Lutheran in Concord. After Ben's passing, Inge lived with her daughter, Marcy in Alameda where she attended Trinity Lutheran in Alameda.
Inge is survived by her three children, Sharon Swinford of Indianapolis IN, Marcy Skala of Alameda CA and Wally Stone of Waterford, CT; five grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, a sister, Marty Andis, of Folsom CA, many other loving relatives and friends, and her loving cat Lucky who does not understand where she has gone.
A Memorial service will be held Sat. Mar. 7th at 1:00 pm, at Trinity Lutheran, 1323 Central Avenue in Alameda. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to the East Bay SPCA, 8323 Baldwin St. Oakland CA 94621.
