James Elrod Obituary
James Clarence Elrod, at home in Walnut Creek on Friday July 5, 2002, a 53 year Walnut Creek resident. He served as a radio operator with the U.S. Forest Service. Later, during WWII, he was a shipyard electrician in San Francisco. Thereafter, he was a truckdriver for four decades, belonging to Teamsters Local Unions #70 & #85, eventually retiring from his job with the Yellow Freight Company. He was an avid ham operator using the call sign 'WB6WLU'. He also enjoyed fishing and travel. A native of San Francisco, CA aged 87 years. Loving and devoted husband of Sybilla 'Billie' Elrod of Walnut Creek for 61 years. Beloved father of James Elrod of Stockton and Cynthia Nankivell of Big Bear Lake, CA. Dear grandfather of Kenneth Nankivell of Cathedral City, CA, John Nankivell of Lake Forest, CA, Robert Elrod of Arizona, and Mark Elrod of Colorado. Also survived by 7 great-grandchildren. Private Services and Interment.
