I remember the emails that we exchanged after he moved to Idaho and also after a person took his eye from him. He told me in ´09 that he didn´t paint for nine years and then only watercolors. He made 3 or 4 films. He,
like the rest of us from Art School have spent our lives making Art, teaching Art and dreaming of Art. Mark was one of the most creative
and voracious people I have known in life and in making Art. He was
also kind, encouraging and funny. He is sorely missed in this world.

The four years I spent with Mark in the art department at Utah will always be some of the richest years of my life. He lives on in my own artwork as well as hit vitality and life force is alive and well in my memory.

When I think back to our days in college I can see Mark with his razor sharp mind, his lit up eyes and invincible will. He had so much courage we all could just grab on and he would drag us behind. Those years are indelible in the minds of the group who gathered in the mid 70's at the University of Utah art department. It's now 40 years later and when I think of those days, Bangerter is right in the heart of the action. It was an amazing time.

I first met Mark at a plein air festival in Escalante, Utah. Later we had the opportunity to discuss art and artists at Woody's tavern in Moab. Mark was generous in sharing his knowledge of art and life. He will be missed by all who knew him. My condolences to Jack and the rest of his family.

I'm sorry to hear of Marks' passing. I remember the fun times we had as our families would gather to celebrate birthdays for holidays. I hope he finds the peace he seemed to always be seeking.

I'm sorry to hear about Mark's passing. He was one one of my high school buddies and we saw each other a few times over the years since then. About five years ago we saw each other at an art festival in Escalante, Utah and had a good visit. He was a talented man and will be missed.

I'm saddened to hear of Mark's death. We shared the graduate studio when working toward an MFA and always enjoyed a good argument, as well as a good joke.

Mark and I painted together as undergraduates at the U. of U. His talent and zest for living still resonate among those of us who studied with him.
I remember painting with him up Immigration Canyon in below freezing weather. I recall Mark's comment on how unspreadable the frozen paint was. He thrived on challenges!
