Loving husband of Darlene Marich Delucchi, devoted father of Danielle Delucchi, MD and treasured brother of Katherine Delucchi, John Steven Delucchi passed away peacefully in his home at age 84.
John was predeceased by his sisters Mary Delucchi and Virginia Delucchi Maffeo. He was born in Oakland. He graduated from Oakland Technical Highschool and UC Berkeley, where he majored in Corporate Finance. After graduation he served in the United States Army and was stationed in Georgia. Following his active military duty he served six years in the California National Guard.
John began his career in finance when he joined the investment firm of Birr Wilson. In his 42 year career as a financial advisor he rose to the ranks of branch manager and later served as portfolio manager for the asset department. A true-blue stock picker, John served his clients well, easily earning their trust and friendship with his solid investment advice, his honesty, sincerity and integrity. He was honored by an appointment to Northern California's Hearing Board for the New York Stock Exchange. He also secured the first human relations department in Alameda County. John was a successful business man and a dedicated family man. He loved the Oakland A's and he loved going to Cal Football Games. He was a proud Italian and Catholic and was a long time member of both the Italian Catholic Federation and the Ligure Club of Oakland. He enjoyed competing in family golf tournaments at Lake Tahoe. He was a Griddlemaster Extraordinaire with his specialty, banana pancakes! John will be deeply missed but forever remembered.
Friends and family are invited the visitation beginning at 5:30pm and to participate in a recitation of the rosary at Grant Miller - John Cox Mortuary - 2850 Telegraph Avenue in Oakland on Thursday August 19th at 7pm. Friends and family are further invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at Corpus Christ Church - 322 Saint James Drive in Piedmont on Friday August 20th at 10am, with a celebration of life reception to follow. Burial service will be private, later in the day, for immediate family only.
