John Fekete

JOHN FEKETE 83, died December 20, 2003 at his Sun City home. Born in Athens, Ohio, Mr. Fekete lived in Sun City 16 years. He was a teacher, football coach, track and field coach and athletic director for the Hayward Unified School District for 32 years before he retired in 1980. Mr. Fekete served in the U.S. Army's 101st Airborne Division during World War II and was a prisoner of war in Germany. Mr. Fekete was a graduate of Ohio University in Athens, Ohio, where he was named to the school's hall of fame. He was chairman of the Lions Club's Sun City Valley Region District 4L-5 for 2003-2004. He is survived by his wife, Peg, two daughters, Jan of New York and Karen Franklin of New Mexico, two sons, John and Charles, both of Castro Valley, a grandchild, a brother, Gene of Ohio and a sister, Wilma Belmaier of Ohio. Memorial services were held. Memorial contributions may be sent to Sun City Host Lions Club.
