John Sturtevant Whitehouse Oct. 9, 1921 - June 15, 2015 Resident of Castro Valley John S. Whitehouse passed away last Monday to meet his savior, Jesus Christ. He touched many lives with his kind, tender spirit; always offering a helping hand to anyone in need. John was born in Oakland and graduated from Fremont High School and earned a degree in Machine Technology from Laney College in Oakland. After serving in the US Army Air Force for nearly 3 ½ years; including one year serving in the Western Pacific campaign repairing combat aircraft on Guam Island, He enjoyed a nearly 40 year career as lead machinist for Sunshine Biscuits Co. of Oakland. He retired in 1986 upon which he launched into many rewarding years of helping at his beloved Redwood Chapel Community Church. John is survived by his loving wife, Elaine, of 69 years and devoted children John (Barb) of Orlando, Laurie Eoff (Gary) of Hayward, Larry of Reno and grandchildren, Gary Eoff of Napa, Kim Lammers (Dennis) of Manteca, Rebekah and Matt Whitehouse of Seattle, and Amy Whitehouse of Orlando, and great-grandchildren Nick (Jenna), Hailey, Emily, Skyler and Hunter and great-great-grandchildren Aiden and Alaena. He was preceded into death by his granddaughter Elizabeth. His friendly, wise and practical spirit will be missed by all who knew him. Friends and family are invited to a memorial service on Saturday, June 27, at 2pm at Redwood Chapel, 19300 Redwood Road, Castro Valley.
