Josephine Skean Obituary

Josephine Skean (JoJo) 3/4/25 to 4/27/09 Jojo passed away at age 84 while on a trip with her daughter to meet her great granddaughter in Ibiza, Spain....Jojo was born in Augsburg, Germany, met and married Albert H. DeWitt, Sr. a US soldier who brought her to America in 1953. She resided in Alameda, CA from 1954 - 1974, raising 3 children. She eventually divorced Al DeWitt in 1974, and met and married a retired US Navy gentleman, John Skean, and settled in San Lorenzo, California. Jojo was a loving and devoted mother as well as adored grandmother, and great grandmother. She will be greatly missed and cherished in the hearts of her children Albert Hans DeWitt, Barry DeWitt, and Lisa DeWitt. Her daughters-in-law Candy DeWitt, Robbin DeWitt, and Barbarella Weaver; her grandchildren Nicole & Daniel DeWitt, Mickey Weaver-DeWitt, and Jamie & Tammy DeWitt. Her great grandchildren Mekai & Nekah DeWitt, BluStella Weaver, and a host of friends and neighbors. Josephine was known for her delightful german-ways personality, her love of Cache Creek Casino getaways, and her beautiful geraniums and garden she loved and devoted much of her time to. She had wonderful neighbors who visited, supported, and looked out for her well being: Jane & Dirk Arndt, Mr & Mrs. Bob Landreth, Nancy Delas, Mr. & Mrs. Bill Lewis, and Helen & Clarence St. Andre. As Josephine wished, there will not be a service, still, the family hopes you will celebrate her life and keep dear in your heart the many wonderful memories of Jojo to comfort you.

Lisa,

I know we have chatted and e-mailed one another since the loss of your dear mother, JoJo, so you know how I felt about her. However, I will say it again. I'm glad I had the opportunity to know JoJo. She had had a warm spirit that drew me in immediately. Whenever I saw her, she always had a warm smile to greet me. I'm honored to have known her and her memory won't be forgotten.
Love you,
Crystal B.

My dear friend Lisa,
Even though you and I talk almost daily, I really wanted to write in your guest book in honor of a wonderful woman..your mom JoJo. She was such a kind hearted, caring person and loved by many including me. She will be greatly missed. I know just how much it meant to her that you talked with her every day, and would fly or drive here just to be with her for appointments. Those are the things that we do for those that we love when they can tell us "thank you" and you were that daughter to her. The bible says "to be abscent from the body is to be present with the Lord". She is home now safe and smiling in Gods arms. Just know she has not left you, but her spirit and memories will be with you always.
So to you Lisa, Tino (Mick) and the rest of your family I pray for your comfort and strength during this time and know that JoJo loved all of you and love is something that "never" dies, but lives in our hearts forever.

Gods Blessings,
Peaches
