Resident of San Leandro, CA
Wife, Mother, Grandmother,
Great Grandmother, Aunt, Great Aunt
The kindest, gentlest person anyone could know was born on May 9, 1926, in the State of Idaho to Ernest and Nancy (nee Denison) Burbank. Julie was raised, along with her beloved younger sister, Jessica, in Alberta, Canada, the San Francisco Bay Area and many places in-between; the numerous stories of the travels of the "Burbank sisters" were born. The Peace River Country of Alberta figured prominently in their early years; -50F, Northern Lights, river ice breakups, goose berries, moose, and bear.
When Mother Nancy, now single, married Angelo Paccioretti in San Francisco, it set the stage for the meeting of a young Marine, Mario, and his bride to be. At 16 years of age, Julie was too young to marry in California, so along with his brother/witness John, Mario and Julie eloped to
Yuma, Arizona, in 1942. Now a young military couple, Julie and Mario set about building their family. Daughter Brenda was born first followed three years later by Michael, and then Daniel five years after that. Numerous transfers, 6 trips across country, including Hawaii, dominated those early years; if its 1959, it must be Cherry Point, North Carolina. In 1961 the family was transferred to the SF Bay Area and settled in
San Leandro, California.
With Mario retiring from the Marine Corps in 1965, the family's traveling days were over. For the first time in her life Julie established a permanent base of operation, lasting more than 60 years. This allowed her children to complete their educations and venture off on their own life journeys. Regular family gatherings now became the norm; family was priority #1 for Julie. Countless meals and parties became a fixture on Farnsworth Street, and her children always knew their families and friends were welcome home for all occasions. Julie was a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) and volunteered at local hospitals, libraries, hospice stores and social clubs. An active member of the Italian-American Club, bocci ball became a new passion, as did the Oakland A's baseball team "Let's Go Oakland."
Julie will be greatly missed by her children Brenda (Jack), Michael (Gail) and Daniel (Rick), her three grandchildren (Michelle (Pablo), Jeffery, and Marcus (Rebekah)), four great grandchildren (Justin, Kyle, Jack, and Olivia), her nieces, and nephews, not to mention the many friends who had the pleasure of her kindness, generosity, and gentleness.
A private celebration of life will be held at the Chapel of the Chimes Hayward, where Julie's ashes will be interned next to Mario's.
