Lawrence (Larry) Dale McClure Jr. entered peacefully into rest on March 10, 2014 at age 70. He was born March 17, 1943 in Martinez, California to the late Lawrence (Dale) and Ethel McClure. He is survived by his wife Marilyn; children Joseph, Hilary (Dave Skillings), Emily (Mario Renteria); and grandchildren Avery, Cole, Olivia, Hayden, Xavier, Hallie; brother Dean and sister Lynne (Rick Dery). Larry served in the Navy from 1961-1967. He was an exceptional artist, and loved painting and drawing. He is renowned for his huge Victorian handlebar mustache and in 2010 was the winner of the first National Beard and Mustache contest held in Bend, Oregon. Per his wishes his ashes will be scattered at sea. A Celebration of Life is scheduled for Sunday, March 30 at Saint Agnes Church in Concord from 1 to 3 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Contra Costa Co. or The Network of Care, Oakley, California.
