Laurie Russell Obituary

Resident of Lafayette
Laurie J. Russell passed away peacefully at home from cancer. She was surrounded in love by her adoring husband and two dear friends. Laurie is survived by her loving husband Michael Bush, uncle Robert Lee, cousins Christy Campbell, Cathy Lee, and Carol Ann Plzak. Laurie was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and June Russell. Laurie was a native and long time resident of Lafayette Ca. She graduated from Acalanes High School and then received her nursing degree from Santa Rosa Junior College. In 1999 she received her Bachelors of Science degree from Chapman University. She worked John Muir Hospital, Mt Diablo Hospital, and Kaiser Hospital in Walnut Creek for 30 years.
Laurie was a passionate and caring Animal Rights Activist. Donations made to
World Wildlife, or Lifesaver Wild Horse Rescue would be appreciated in Laurie's memory.
A Life Celebration Service is planned in the near future. Family, friends and animals will miss her greatly!

When I first met Laurie, I thought she was one of the prettiest girls I had ever seen. That was almost 40 years at John Muir where Laurie was a young surgical nurse and I was an OR secretary/scheduler. Laurie's love and concern for animals is legend, but I wonder how many knew that she was a gifted writer -- a talent I always hoped she would cultivate. She was also a good teacher and helped me become a better listener. I loved hearing her laughter when she was happy, and I was thrilled that she found true love and happiness with Mike. I will always miss Laurie, but am grateful for the time she was here.

Laurie and I met working together at Mt. Diablo Hospital over 29 years ago! Thank you Laurie for all the love,blood, sweat, and tears of a wonderful friendship! I can't wait to see you again! The memories are too many to list and I hold you and them in my heart!! Good bye my sister! Heaven has a beautiful new Angel!!

I know Laurie for a short time back in her Mt.Diablo Hospital years. I remembered her as a very nice person and her love for animals. She will be missed.
