Louis A. DeMattei

LOUIS A. DeMATTEI Entered peacefully into rest in Hayward on January 2, 2006. He was 82 years old. Born in Santa Rosa on August 30, 1923, Louis had served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He had served in Burma and was a recipient of a Purple Heart. He had retired from the San Leandro Unified School District after 23 years of service. In younger years, Louis had been an avid hunter. After retirement, Louis enjoyed drawing, painting, and building models. He was known as "Mr. Fix It", and was known to help others. He was devoted to his family and was proud of their accomplishments. He will truly be missed. Louis is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 59 years, Lucinda M. DeMattei of San Lorenzo, and his son, Gary L. DeMattei of Danville. He leaves behind his beloved grandchildren, Aunmari Lyons, Joseph DeMattei and Vanessa DeMattei, and great grandchildren, Paul Lyons IV, Jordan Lyons, Khayman DeMattei, Iliana DeMattei and Noah Lyons. He is also survived by his sister, Rose Jones, and his nephews David Borelli, Roger Volz and nieces Marsha Ciarlo and Vicki Pieraldi.
