After teaching chemistry for three years at the State College of Washington, he and his wife Bernice returned to California, making their home permanently in Danville in 1951. For the remainder of his career he was a nuclear chemist at the Lawrence Livermore Laboratory, from which he retired in 1988.In the early 1970's he became a volunteer citizen activist for more parklands in Contra Costa County, and was involved in the early establishment of the Las Trampas Regional Wilderness and the Morgan Territory Regional Preserve.Survivors include his sons Mark (Netty), Bruce, and grandchildren, Annika (David Young), Daniel (Nicole Garcia), and Lisa.
