Marian Howe Obituary

Marian Elizabeth Howe
May 23, 1925 - February 5, 2014
Resident of El Cerrito
Marian traveled from Hagerstown, Maryland to the San Francisco Bay Area in the late 1940's to continue her career as a Registered Nurse. Soon after arriving in California, she met Russell Howe, a transplant from Minnesota. Four months later, they married, settled in El Cerrito and raised two sons, Doug and Rob.
Marian - "Gramma Sweetie Pie", is remembered for her love as a homemaker; doing crafts, sewing, cooking and baking. She enjoyed picking blackberries and making cobbler and jam while fishing the Klamath River, canning the famous Howe smoked salmon, spending time at Clear Lake with family and friends at their resort - "Hooker's Haven", and traveling to Arizona for the winter months after Russ retired as a General Contractor.
Predeceased by her beloved husband Russ in 2008, she is survived by her loving sons, Doug and wife Vicki (Encalada), Rob and wife Joanne (Marchetti), grandchildren Aaron and wife Liz, Dan and wife Ashley, Natalie, Michael, Bobby and Jamie, great-granddaughters Madilyn, Lily, Jenna and Emma.
A celebration of life to honor both Russ and Marian will be held at a later date. Donations in Marian's memory may be made to Oakland Kaiser Hospice, 3701 Broadway - Oakland, CA 94611 or Saint Mary's College High School, 1294 Albina Avenue - Berkeley, CA 94706.
