MARILYN LEE BARR
May 18, 1946 - October 30, 2015
Longtime resident of Alameda
Marilyn Barr passed away unexpectedly in Fremont October 30, 2015. She is the beloved wife of George K Barr of Alameda. Loving mother of Chad G. Barr and Lisa (Barr) Patakis and her husband Daniel. Loving grandmother of Leo and Alex Patakis. Sister of Renee Hunter and her husband Len Hunter. Marilyn was a graduate of Moorpark High School and she attended Thousand Oaks College. She received her Dental Assistant Certification from College of Alameda.
Marilyn worked in numerous jobs as a Dental assistant, Teacher's assistant and a mortuary receptionist.
Marilyn was affiliated with Twin Towers United Methodist Church in Alameda, St. Barnabas Catholic Church and she was an Eastern Star Chaplain.
Marilyn also known as "Babbler" by her family and close friends was a world traveler with her husband George visiting 94 countries and all 50 states and providences of Canada.
Family and friends are invited to attend funeral services Saturday November 7, 2015 at 1:00pm at the Alameda Funeral and Cremation Services Chapel, 1415 Oak Street, Alameda with Rev. Dr. Richard Stinson, officiating. For further information please call Harry W. Greer, Funeral Director (FDR-745), alamedafuneral.org.
Marilyn was a strong Christian and was always very kind to everyone she met. Her family has comfort that she is now in the presence of the Lord.
