Mary Maguire Pult

1946 - 2023

Mary Maguire Pult, age 76, died March 25 at her home in Danville with her family. Mary had a full life and was looking forward to being reunited with her husband and son. She will be remembered in the hearts of her many family and friends.Mary was born November 4, 1946 in San Leandro, the eldest of 8 children, to John and Bonnie Maguire. She graduated from Bishop O'Dowd High School and Holy Names University. It was there she met her sisters of the heart Doreen Jones, Janet Moran and Paula Pardini.After graduating, she began her teaching career at St. Bede where she met Tom Pult. They married in 1972 and had 39 wonderful years together until he passed in 2011. Tom and Mary had 3 children, Andrew (deceased), Amy (Joey Dieckhans) and Brian (Jessica) and 3 adorable grandsons who brought a lot of joy into her life, Jonathan, Thomas and Bruno. She also leaves a niece, Anna, that was like a daughter to her, a sister Theresa and brothers Tim, Pat, Shawn and Paul.Mary spent many years teaching at St. Clement and got her first job as a principal at St. Lawrence O'Toole. She returned to St. Clement as principal in 2000 and ended her career there in 2012. After Tom's passing, Mary began to fill in for principals at different Catholic schools, eventually spending 2 1/2 years as the first layperson principal of St. Elizabeth School. Mary was known as a kind, compassionate and strong leader who touched the lives of many children and adults who she worked with and mentored.When Tom retired, they took the family on an Alaskan cruise to celebrate, one of many cruises they and then Mary and her friends took. Traveling later in life was one of her passions.After Mary retired in 2018, she became more active at St. Joan of Arc Church where she helped start a youth program for 4th and 5th graders called "THE ROCK" and was a member of many committees. She also joined St. Vincent De Paul starting a new program to support families in need.A celebration of life will be held on April 29, 11:00 a.m., St. Joan of Arc Church, San Ramon.
