Michael Cahn Obituary

DR. MICHAEL CAHN Dr. Michael Cahn (formerly Dr. Max Crandall) of Berkeley, died October 13 at the age of 76. Born in Detroit, Dr. Cahn spent the first 50 years of his life in the Midwest. Served in Michigan Air National Guard, 1948-53, during which time he also attended Wayne State University in Detroit, graduating with a degree in engineering. Worked as an engineer at Ford Motor Company for seven years before opting for a career in medicine. Entered Chicago College of Osteopathy in 1961, graduating in 1965. Practiced in Livonia, Michigan, and Novi, Michigan, before relocating to California in 1978. Opened family practice on Alvarado-Niles Road in Union City in 1980. Concurrent with running his practice, Dr. Cahn also saw patients at Washington Hospital and St. Rose Hospital. He performed sports physicals for Logan High student-athletes for many years. Served the Union City-Hayward-Fremont area with passion and integrity for 17 years until illness forced him to retire at age 69 in 1997. Survived by wife of 39 years, Mitzi (Rachleff) Cahn, sons, Colin Crandall of Sherman Oaks, Evan Crandall of San Francisco, and Jeremy Crandall of Berkeley, sister Thelma Kerwin of West Bloomfield, Michigan, and brother George Crandall of Farmington Hills, Michigan.
