Michael Gailey Obituary

Michael Patrick Gailey (Big Mike)
August 15, 1975~May 16, 2017
Antioch
Michael P. Gailey passed away on Tuesday after a hard fought battle with leukemia. In his short 41 years with us, he touched many lives with his love and loyalty for family, unselfishly helping friends in need, and a soft heart with a gentle touch for all animals.
Michael was a very loving and nurturing uncle. He spent many hours at play at the park, playing ball, and swimming. Never saying no when asked for his participation. For those who knew and loved him will forever have that special place in their heart.
Mike was born in Concord, California, and graduated from Antioch High School in 1994. He played multiple sports excelling in all.
At the age of nine, he started as a helper working with his father at Custom Tiling. He became a tile setter soon after graduating from high school. While working in the trade for 25 years, he became a full partner, eventually taking over the business.
Mike is survived by his parents, Wayne and Carol Gailey of Antioch; brothers, Johnnie Gailey (Stephanie) of Vallejo and Chris Gailey (Michelle) of Martinez; nieces Samantha and Hannah; nephews, Timothy, Andrew, and Ryan; cousins, Stacey and Mark; lifetime friends, Shawn, Sharie, and Danny; and many other close friends. He also leaves behind his loyal, loving pets, Tippy, Maggie, and Daisy.
We will forever hold you tightly in our hearts and minds until we are together again. Until then, we will never be whole again.

I knew Mike going back to elementary school Holy Rosary when he was sort of a wimpish kid. Kind of a funny story I remember I told him sit down on a chair then pulled it out from under him. He fell and cried but then we lost touch after elementary school and we met up again in high school where he turned into this Schwarzenegger muscle man! Obviously I told him that I should of never pulled that chair out from under him under fear of mr muscles! He didn't obviously care at that point but what a shame. Just lost a co-worker to pancreatic cancer , it just is one of the true indiscriminate takers of lives too early. Rich Durkin

I remember you Mike from when we were kids, we grew up swimming together! I had the biggest crush on you. Not only were you good looking but you were a good person and a good swimmer. I ran into you a few years ago at Raley's and you recognized me and said hello. From that point I communicated with you some on messenger! You told me what you were going through and my heart just ached for you and your family because I remembered you all from swimming! I checked in on you now and then hoping the prognosis would change but unfortunately that wasn't the case. You will be missed Mike and I will always have those memories from Skimmers. It was brave of your brother Chris to be a donor for you. What an amazing and courageous gesture that was. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family Mike, during the difficult time. Rest In Peace my friend!
