Milton Tacconi Obituary

Milton "Del" Tacconi
April 9, 1939 - November 14, 2020
Resident of Danville, CA
Milton "Del" Tacconi passed away peacefully in Walnut Creek on November 14, 2020. He was 81 years old.
Del was born on April 9, 1939 in Waco, Texas to Lucille & Constantino Tacconi. He attended Carquinez Elementary and graduated from John Sweet High School 1953 in Crockett CA, where he loved baseball and football. After high school he attended Contra Costa College with plans to go to UC Berkeley to play football for John Ralston. Plans changed when Ralston left Berkeley and went to Utah State. However, Del broke his jaw the summer before he was able to play at Utah State and pledged at Sigma Chi Gamma Kappa.
While in Sigma Chi, he created many memories while working towards his B.S. Business Administration and Management, Utah State University in 1962.
His first job out of college was with Smiths Clothiers in Vallejo. He married his first wife, Jill Westington, in 1963. In 1965, Del was promoted to store manager for Smiths in Santa Rosa then transferred to Oakland in 1968 where became a District Manager.
In 1971, Del left Smiths and started as a salesman with Bechelli Belts which was acquired by Swank a few years later. While at Swank he was the top salesman selling to the department store, Mervyns. Del had a great relationship with Mervin Morris and would often sit in his office for hours to talk about business. He retired from Swank 1993 at the age of 65.
Del married Linda Joy Robinson in 1979. They spent many days gardening, swimming and shared many meals at Chez Panisse, living life to the fullest.
In retirement Del spent every morning at the bagel shop in San Ramon; then he would return home to take care of Linda - the love of his life. Del and Linda were married for 39 years.
Del loved sports. He attended most of his grandchildrens' sporting events. The boys would spend countless hours swimming in the backyard at their Papa's house. Del had Oakland Raider tickets when they moved back to Oakland from Los Angeles, and he also attended Oakland A's and Warrior games.
In retirement, Del spent more time with his fraternity. In 1989 he became a Life Loyal Member of Sigma Chi. In 2005, he became the chapter advisor for the Alpha Beta Sigma Chi UC Berkeley (Grand Consul Citation). Del received the Seven Lights Recipients award in 2011. The Seven Lights Alumni Award is presented to members who have committed 10 or more years of service to the fraternity as an alumnus. As Sigma Chi knows these Sigs are its most dedicated volunteers, they selected Milton Del Tacconi in 2015 for induction to the Order of Constantine, its highest honor for members who have committed years of exemplary service to the organization. He was also a Semi-Century Sig and created many memories for the young men at Sigma Chi.
Del is survived by his son, Michael & Donna Tacconi of Danville, stepdaughter, Diana & Bob Friedman of Los Angeles and stepson, Neil Robinson of Lake Tahoe; grandchildren, Alec, Ryan, Alyssa, Jason and James; step grandchildren, Sam, Josh, Jessica, Cierra, Celina, Sebastian, Jennifer and Ashley; great grandchildren, Darin and Rena; many cherished extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Tacconi, son, Darin Tacconi and stepson, Kyle Robinson.
A celebration of life via Zoom is scheduled on Thursday, Dec 10, 2020 at 1 pm. Register for the event at http://www.deltacconi.com
