Paul Joplin Obituary

PAUL RICHARD "DICK" JOPLIN Passed away on December 13, 2006, after a battle with cancer. He was the sixth of ten children born in Bolenger, Alabama on April 4, 1921 to Ed and Lottie Joplin. He is survived by his six children, Robert (Kathy), Patricia Whitman, Richard, Ronald, Michael and David. He was the proud grandfather of Tina Choi, Daniel Joplin and Bridget Paquette. He also leaves behind four great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He served with the Marine Raiders in World War II and saw action in several of the Pacific island campaigns. He worked for many years in the floor covering business before he became employed at the Holiday Bowl in Hayward, where he was promoted to General Manager before retiring and moving to Hawaii. He moved back to the mainland in 1977. He was an avid bowler and golfer for many years. A memorial service will be held on January 11, 2007, at Callaghan Mortuary, 3833 East Avenue in Livermore at 11 a.m. He will be inurned at San Joaquin National Cemetery on January 22, 2007.
