Phyllis Morris

Feb. 18, 1908 - Jan. 12, 2009 Phyllis Morris passed away peacefully on the evening of Monday, January 12, 2009, at her home surrounded by her caregivers and loved ones. Phyllis was born on February 18, 1908 in Spain to Matias and Inez Sazo. As a youth she and her parents moved to the Hawaiian Islands, and then as a teenager to the United States where she lived throughout the rest of her life. Although Phyllis enjoyed a good, long, healthy life, nevertheless she did experience sorrows during her journey. Her only son passed away as a child, something she carried with her for the rest of her days. In 1947 she suffered the loss of her husband, Stanley G. Morris, the love of her life. She was thereafter preceded in death by her beloved step-son Stanley G. Morris, Jr. Phyllis was a successful business woman, who among other things owned, developed and operated the Phylmore Motel in Hayward for over 40 years. After retirement Phyllis continued to live in Hayward and enjoyed entertaining in her beautiful home and gardening at her beloved "Rancho Phylmore". Phyllis was remarkably healthy throughout her 100+ years and enjoyed and maintained a strong and wonderful relationship with friends and family until the of her passing. For the past 19 years Phyllis was assisted by her loving caregiver, "Karen", for which those who knew and loved Phyllis were and are eternally grateful. A Visitation will be held on Monday, January 19, 2009 at the Sorenson Brothers Mortuary located at 1140 "B" Street, Hayward, CA between 5:00pm and 8:30pm. On Tuesday, January 20, 2009 there will be a Funeral at Sorenson Brothers starting at 11:00 am with a Committal Service immediately thereafter at Chapel of the Chimes located at 32992 Mission Blvd., Hayward, CA.
