Richard Seavey Obituary

Richard Warren Seavey
July 28, 1934 - January 20, 2022
Resident of San Ramon
Richard (Dick) Seavey passed away at his home of pancreatic cancer. He was born to John Wentworth Seavey and Eunice Warren Seavey of Chelmsford, Massachusetts. Dick leaves his loving wife of 29 years, Georganne, three daughters, Elizabeth Bickel, of GA, Julie Fredriksson (David) of MD and Christen Olson of MA, stepdaughter-in-law Susan Gaines Musser of GA, grandchildren Sarah Anne and Alexandra Bickel, Alek and Anneka Fredriksson, Cameron, Catherine, Charlotte and Cooper Olson, and Thomas and Bradley Gaines. He is also survived by his sister Jean Bratt of MA and first wife Anna Seavey. He was predeceased by his brother, Theodore (Ted) Seavey and stepson Carl Gaines.
Dick received a BS in Engineering Management in 1957 from Norwich University in Vermont and an MBA in Engineering Management in 1973 from Northeastern University in MA. He dedicated 28 years of military service and retired with the rank of Colonel in the U.S. Army Reserves. Dick worked for Norton Company (now Saint-Gobain Corp.) for 32 years where he retired as West Coast Regional Account Executive here in California.
Dick enjoyed creating beautiful drawings and paintings of landscapes and family portraits which his family shall cherish. He loved his wife and family unconditionally and everyone who knew him agreed he was a true gentleman, kind, helpful and definitely "one of the good guys".
Dick's passion was always caring about others, especially our veteran community. He was involved with many VSO's including serving all but one position in the Danville American Legion Post 246, Docent of the Year for the Danville Veterans Memorial Building, recipient of several Presidential Recognitions for his volunteer work at the Livermore VA Hospital. He helped set up new homes for our Sentinels of Freedom assisting severely wounded vets. He was involved in recognizing many of our Iraq and Afghanistan veterans at local Welcome Home Celebrations. He coordinated the Veterans Day programs and participated in the 4th of July parades in Danville for many years. Wherever there was a need, Dick was always doing and giving selflessly - a true patriot.
A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, March 23rd at 1:00 pm at Graham Hitch Mortuary in Pleasanton. Burial will be at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery in Dixon on Thursday, March 24th at 1:00 pm. A second service for Dick Seavey shall be held at Norwich University at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Dick's name to Norwich University Cadet Scholarship Program, 158 Harmon Drive, Northfield, VT 05663 "the oldest U.S. private military college, birthplace of ROTC".

Georganne,

I will always remember Dick as a wonderful older brother, always there when I needed advice. Friends and family alike were very important to him; he had empathy for everyone he came in contact with and was always helping others. I will always remember how much he loved both being a part of Norwich University and a very proud member of the United States Military.

Thank you for being such a dedicated wife and taking such loving care of him. Sending my love and thinking of you often.

Love, Jean
