Ronald Capurro Obituary

Ronald Joseph Capurro
August 8, 1942 - March 17, 2021
Resident of Pittsburg, CA
Ron "RJ" Capurro passed away at home peacefully surrounded by his loving family. Ron was the eldest son of Henry Capurro and Vivian Del Monte and was directly descended from pioneer Pittsburg Italian families that settled here in the early 1880's. Ron attended local public schools and graduated from Pittsburg Sr. High School in 1961. Upon graduation Ron served in the U.S. Army National Guard. After completing the service he began working at Columbia Steel, Pittsburg Plant as a third generation steelworker. He was a member of the United Steelworkers Union for 31 years.
At the age of 21 Ron met his longtime wife Renee Hernandez and they married in Reno, Nevada in 1963. They raised their three children here in Pittsburg. As a young man Ron was a member and President of the Pittsburg Scavengers Motorcycle Club. He was a lifelong sportsman, hunting and fishing locally throughout the Sacramento Delta. Ron was also a regular at the waterfront and among friends at McAvoy's Yacht Club. Ron's joking personality was truly one of a kind, he was a classic.
Ron is survived by his wife Renee, his devoted children Gina, Dominic (Maryann) and Nicole Ferrante (Vince); Grandchildren Billy, Dezarey, Giana, Michaela, Dhaynae, M.C. III, Ronnie, Dominique and eleven great grandchildren, all of Pittsburg. He is also survived by his siblings Christine Artz (Dan) of Antioch and Steve (Alice) of Pittsburg. Ron was preceded in death by his parents Henry and Vivian.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery, Antioch on April 12, 2021 at 11:00am.
