Sam Kikes Obituary

Sam John Kikes
Feb. 12, 1928-June 21, 2014
Resident of Danville
Sam John Kikes passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 21 in Danville at the age of 86. He was born in Toronto, Canada and lived with his family in the East Bay for 65 years. He served in the U.S. Army in Korea and enjoyed a 27 year career with Safeway. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Deanna of 43 years, brother George and sister Bessie. He will be in good company! He is survived by his brother Frank, sister Clara, sons John (Valerie), Nicholas (Irene), Michael (Tammy), six grandchildren Katherine, Michael, Alexandra, Sam, Nicole and Anthony, and great grandson Colton.
Sam was very proud of his family, attending his sons' hockey practices and games, his grandkids football, baseball and lacrosse games, dance and piano recitals, concerts and plays and he was their biggest fan! He was also an avid A's and Raiders' fan and participated in the Fantasy Football League at Giant Chef in Pleasant Hill. His happiest moments were on the golf course, in the pool, at the race track and in his favorite chair watching sports, always tossing out a wise crack with a smile. He was much loved and will be missed not only by his family, but those who knew him throughout the years.
A memorial will be held August 3 at 11:15am at the Greek Orthodox Church of the Ascension in Oakland. Donations can be made to Hope Hospice, 6377 Clark Ave. Ste 100, Dublin, CA 94568.
